A drilled tank with a weir box is only as quiet as the balance between what the return pump sends up and what the drain carries back down. When the two drift apart, the level in the weir box falls, air is drawn into the drain and the gurgling and splashing begin. Aqua Medic DrainTuna – Weir Level Control (SKU: AM77200) is Aqua Medic’s electronic water level control for the weir box, designed to work with its DC Runner x.2 and x.3 series return pumps. Two float switches in the weir box watch the water level, and the DrainTuna continuously adjusts the flow rate of the return pump so that the level in the box can change only slightly.

Instead of setting a pump once and hoping the drain keeps pace as pipes slime up and evaporation changes the sump level, the system corrects the pump output as conditions change. Aqua Medic lists four functions: a constant water level in the weir box, float switches that are easy to install in the box, permanent level monitoring and simple adjustment of the flow rate. The box contains the DrainTuna control unit, two float switches with a holder, the necessary connection cables, a power supply unit and a wall bracket, and Aqua Medic publishes a quick guide and video for setting it up. Compatibility is given only for the DC Runner x.2 and x.3 series; the smaller DC Runner 400 to 1000 pumps are not listed.
