The Fluval Breeding Box (SKU: FLV01) is an external hang-on isolation box (1.1 L) designed to safely harbour pregnant livebearers, newborn fry, weak fish, or aggressive specimens. By hanging on the outside of the aquarium, it maximises internal swimming space while maintaining shared water conditions. The Fluval Breeding Box is a compact, external hanging breeding and isolation chamber designed for safely housing fry, pregnant livebearers, aggressive fish, or weak and injured livestock. By mounting onto the outside edge of the aquarium glass, it maximises swimming space inside the main display tank while providing an isolated environment with continuous water circulation.

Utilising a quiet airlift mechanism powered by a standard air pump, fresh, oxygenated aquarium water is pulled into the box and continuously returned back into the display tank via an overflow spout. This ensures optimal water parameters and temperature stability without needing a separate heater or internal filter. It utilises an air-driven circulation system (requires an air pump, sold separately) to gently pull oxygenated water from the main tank through the breeding box, keeping fry healthy without risk of filtration suction.

When to Use

• Livebearer Breeding: Protects pregnant livebearers (guppies, platies, mollies, swordtails) and provides a safe refuge for newborn fry.

• Fish Isolation: Separates timid, injured, or bullied fish from aggressive tank mates to allow safe recovery. Recovery home that safely houses sick, injured, or bullied fish during treatment or recovery.

• Acclimation & Nursery: Serves as a safe holding container for newly introduced shrimp, fragile livestock, or growing juvenile fish.

How to Use / Installation Process

1. Assemble the breeding box housing and attach the levelling adjustment legs and overflow grid.

2. Hang the box securely over the top exterior edge of the aquarium glass.

3. Connect airline tubing from an external air pump to the intake airlift column. Attach an air pump airline tube to the intake circulation pipe.

4. Fill the box with aquarium water and adjust the air valve control to establish a steady circulation flow. Adjust the leveller craft legs to keep the box completely upright against the glass.
