Description
Red Sea Tank Net Screen 60cm — DIY aluminium-framed mesh cover kit for open-top tanks to 60 × 60 cm
Wrasses, gobies and firefish leave open-top tanks through the gap you missed, and a screen is the reliable answer. Red Sea Tank Net Screen 60cm (SKU: RED260) is Red Sea’s DIY Net Cover kit for building a slim, custom-fitted mesh top up to 60 × 60 cm. The frame is an 8 mm extra-strong aluminium profile that Red Sea says does not noticeably block the light or the view of the upper part of the aquarium, filled with clear mesh and held by a rubber spline, and the kit is cut and assembled at home so the cover can be shaped around rim-mounted lights, filters and return pipes.
The box holds four 57 cm frame profiles, two 10 cm cut-out profiles, six outer and two inner corners, four mounting clips, 4 m of retaining spline, 2 m of mesh and a spline roller tool, which is everything needed for a single rectangular cover with one cut-out. Red Sea’s compatibility table lists the 60 cm kit for the REEFER Nano, REEFER 170 and 170 Deluxe, MAX Nano and MAX E-170 with no extra kits. The clips mount in-rim or on-rim and keep the cover out of the water. Zig-zag cut-out profiles (RED265) are sold separately for stepping around a light arm or overflow.
Usage & Application
When to Use
- Jumpers in open-top tanks: Wrasses, firefish, gobies, jawfish and anthias in rimless and REEFER aquariums.
- Tanks to 60 × 60 cm: REEFER Nano and 170, MAX Nano, MAX E-170 and other cubes and nanos of that footprint.
- Keeping the light in: A mesh top that passes light and view where a glass lid would trap heat and salt creep.
- Custom fits: Tanks with rim-mounted lights, filters or returns that a one-piece lid cannot clear.
Installation Guide
- Measure and plan: Mark the inside or outside rim dimensions and any cut-outs for pipes, light brackets and feeding access.
- Cut and assemble: Trim the aluminium profiles to length, join with the outer corners and add inner corners at any cut-out.
- Fit the mesh: Lay the mesh over the frame and roll the spline into the channel with the roller tool, then trim the excess.
- Hang it: Clip the mounting hangers to the rim and rest the cover on them; lift off for feeding and maintenance.
