Round Fish / Shrimp Net

Description

Round Fish / Shrimp Net — Round-frame fine-mesh net for gently catching fish and shrimp

Chasing a fish around a tank with the wrong net stresses everything in the water, and shrimp slip straight through coarse mesh. Round Fish / Shrimp Net (SKU: 3DFN01R) is a hand net with a round frame and a fine, soft mesh, made for catching and moving fish, shrimp and other small aquatic animals. The fine mesh lets water drain through while holding small livestock, and the soft material is kinder to fins and to the delicate legs and antennae of shrimp than a stiff, open weave. This listing is model FN01 in the round-frame range.

A round frame has no corners to catch on plants or decor, so it is the easier shape for scooping fish out of open water or guiding them from around rockwork and wood. The handle gives reach into the tank without the hand going in, and the net is just as useful for maintenance as for livestock: lifting out snails, uneaten food, dead leaves and floating debris between water changes. For catching a fast fish, a common technique is to use two nets, holding one still and gently herding the fish into it with the other. Lift livestock out with the net held just under the surface and transfer it quickly into the bag or container. Fish with spines, such as catfish, can tangle in any mesh; ease them out by turning the net inside out under water rather than pulling at the fins. Rinse the net in fresh water after use and let it dry, and keep separate nets for quarantine and display tanks to avoid carrying disease between them.
