Discus breeders change more water than almost anyone in the hobby, most of it RO, and all of it needing a touch of KH. Quantum Amazon River KH Conditioner 5L (SKU: QA325000) is the bulk size of Quantum’s Amazon River KH Pro, a solution of safe KH salts in deionised water formulated to raise carbonate hardness gently to the low level of Amazon river water. That small KH is what keeps pH from fluctuating and the fish’s biochemical processes running efficiently, and the product is designed to be used with Amazon River pH Pro and Amazon River Pro Salt GH.

The rate is the same as the bottles: 10 mL per 100 L raises KH by 0.5 dKH, the recommended range is 0.5 to 2 dKH, and only the replacement water is dosed at a change. A fish room conditioning 1,000 L of RO a week to 1.5 dKH uses 300 mL, so 5 L lasts around sixteen weeks; a single large discus system at 150 L a week gets well over a year. The 5 L container suits a mixing barrel, where a week’s change water is treated in one go.
