A big planted Amazon tank on RO changes 100 L or more a week, and every litre needs remineralising before it touches the plants. Quantum Amazon River MPMC GH 1L (SKU: QA341000) is the litre size of Quantum’s Amazon River Pro Salt GH, a solution of major, minor and trace elements in deionised water that gently raises general hardness in the ratio of Amazon river water. It includes macrobiotics, probiotics and vitamin precursors to promote beneficial bacteria and fish vitality, and Quantum formulates it to be used with Amazon River pH Pro and Amazon River KH Pro so pH and carbonate hardness are set at the same time.

The dose is 10 mL per 100 L for a 0.5 dGH rise, against a recommended range of 1 to 3 dGH, and only the water being replaced is dosed at a change. Remineralising 125 L of RO to 2 dGH takes 50 mL, so a litre covers about twenty weekly changes on a 500 L tank. Plants draw calcium and magnesium from the water as surely as fish do, so a planted display at the top of the range, 3 dGH, uses proportionally more and gets thirteen changes from the bottle.

Dosing & Administration Guide

• Set the GH: Between 1 and 3 dGH according to the fish and plants kept.
• Dose to the volume: 10 mL per 100 L for each 0.5 dGH of rise, on the litres remineralised.
• Replacement water only: Treat the new water, then complete the change.
• Align KH and pH: Amazon River KH Pro and pH Pro in the same change water.
