Most Amazon fish spawn and show their best colour in slightly acidic water, and holding a tank at 6.5 is harder than getting it there. Quantum Amazon River pH Buffer 250ml (SKU: QA330250) is Quantum’s Amazon River pH Pro, a solution of safe pH buffer salts in deionised water formulated to regulate pH and help replicate the water of the Amazon rivers. Without KH and pH under control, a soft tank’s pH fluctuates, and every swing costs the fish in the efficiency of their biochemical processes. It is used with Amazon River KH Pro and Pro Salt GH, over a slightly acidic substrate.

The dose is 10 mL per 100 L once a week, or as required, to keep pH between 6.3 and 6.7, and the product is used as a maintenance supplement rather than a one-off correction. Water changes are dosed for the replacement volume only. A 200 L tetra and corydoras tank takes 20 mL a week, so the 250 mL bottle covers about twelve weeks, which makes it the right size to try the Amazon system on a single community tank before committing to the larger bottles.
