A 500 L display of big cichlids changes 125 L or more a week, and remineralising that volume is a litre-bottle routine. Quantum American/Aust MPMC GH 1L (SKU: QA361000) is the litre size of Quantum’s American/Australian Pro Salt GH, a solution of major, minor and trace elements in deionised water that raises general hardness gently and in the ratio found in American lakes and Australian waterways. It carries macrobiotics, probiotics and vitamin precursors to promote beneficial bacteria and fish vitality, and it is formulated to work alongside American/Australian Buffer Pro, which sets KH and pH.

Ten millilitres per 100 L raises general hardness by 1 dGH, and Quantum recommends 2 to 4 dGH for American cichlid and Australian native tanks. At a change the dose goes into the new water alone. Bringing 125 L of RO water to 3 dGH uses 37.5 mL, so a litre covers about twenty-six weekly changes on a 500 L tank; at 4 dGH the same change uses 50 mL and the bottle lasts twenty. Fish take up much of their calcium and magnesium from the water, which is why the level is maintained rather than left to fall.

Dosing & Administration Guide

• Choose the level: Between 2 and 4 dGH, according to the species kept.
• Scale the dose: 10 mL for every 100 L and every 1 dGH of rise, worked out on the change volume.
• Treat the new water: Remineralise the replacement water before it goes in; the tank is already at target.
• Keep KH and pH aligned: Run American/Australian Buffer Pro alongside so all three parameters hold.
