Central American cichlids and Australian natives come from water with a steady mineral content, and a tank topped up from soft or RO water slowly loses it. Quantum American/Aust MPMC GH 250ml (SKU: QA360250) is Quantum’s American/Australian Pro Salt GH, a solution of major, minor and trace elements in deionised water that gently raises general hardness in the ideal ratio to replicate American lakes and Australian waterways. Fish absorb a large share of the magnesium, calcium and other elements they need directly from the water, and the formula also includes macrobiotics, probiotics and vitamin precursors to promote beneficial bacteria and enhance fish vitality.

The dose is 10 mL per 100 L for a rise of 1 dGH, and Quantum’s recommended range for American cichlid and Australian native aquariums is 2 to 4 dGH. When water is changed, the new water alone gets the dose. A 200 L convict or rainbowfish tank changing 50 L a week from RO water to 3 dGH uses 15 mL, so the 250 mL bottle covers about sixteen changes. It is designed to be used alongside American/Australian Buffer Pro, which sets KH and pH, so the three parameters that define the water are handled together.
