Plants strip calcium and magnesium from the water as steadily as fish do, and a planted tank on RO runs dry of both within weeks. Quantum Aqua Pro GH 500ml (SKU: QA420500) is the 500 mL size of Quantum’s Freshwater Essential Plant Essential Aqua Pro GH, a solution of bioavailable magnesium and calcium with trace elements in deionised water, formulated to raise general hardness gently and supply the essential elements every freshwater inhabitant needs. Its purity and balanced formulation let it serve any type of freshwater tank, and Quantum gives a GH target for each.

A capful of about 10 mL per 100 L raises GH by roughly 2.5 dGH, added directly into high water flow without shaking. At a water change only the replacement volume is dosed, and it is never used to replace evaporated water. The published targets run from 1 to 3 dGH for South American tanks, through 4 to 8 for community, shrimp and high-tech planted, up to 7 to 12 for Tanganyika. A 300 L planted tank changing 75 L a week from RO to 6 dGH uses 18 mL, so the bottle covers about twenty-seven changes. It is not for dosing pumps.
