Carbonate hardness is the parameter that keeps every other one still, and powder is the cheapest way to add it. Quantum Aqua Pro KH 275g (SKU: QA430275) is the smallest pack of Quantum’s Freshwater Essential Plant Essential Aqua Pro KH, a blend of KH buffer salts formulated to raise carbonate hardness gently and improve pH stability in any freshwater aquarium. Without KH regulation a tank’s pH swings, and swings reduce the efficiency of the biochemical processes its inhabitants rely on. A level scoop is included, and Quantum publishes a KH target for every kind of freshwater tank.

Five grams, one level scoop, per 100 L raises KH by about 1.4 dKH. The powder is never added straight to the aquarium: it is dissolved in a portion of tank water in a separate vessel, then poured in where the flow is strongest. At a water change only the replacement volume is dosed, and the product is not used for evaporation top-ups. Targets range from 0.5 to 2 dKH for South American tanks, through 1 to 3 for community and high-tech planted, 2 to 6 for shrimp, up to 7 to 12 for Tanganyika. The 275 g pack holds about 55 scoops.

When to Use

Dosing & Administration Guide

• Choose the KH: From Quantum’s table, for example 1 to 3 dKH for community tanks or 2 to 6 for shrimp.
• One scoop per 100 L per 1.4 dKH: 5 g per scoop, scaled to the water being treated.
• Dissolve first: Stir the powder into a jug of aquarium water, then add into high flow; never put powder straight in.
• Change water only: Dose the replacement volume, not evaporation top-ups; pair with Aqua Pro GH.
