A nano tank’s pH can sag a few tenths after a big feed, and correcting it safely means moving in small steps. Quantum Aqua Pro pH Up 100ml (SKU: QA440100) is the drop-dosed size of Quantum’s Freshwater Essential Plant Essential Aqua Pro pH Up, a solution of potassium carbonate in deionised water formulated to increase pH safely. Unregulated pH leaves a tank prone to fluctuation, and fluctuation reduces the efficiency of the biochemical processes fish, shrimp and plants depend on. Quantum rates it for planted, fish-only, shrimp and pond systems and publishes a pH range for each type of freshwater tank.

The dose is 10 drops per 10 L to raise pH by about 0.2, added directly into high water flow without shaking. Quantum’s firm rule is not to alter pH by more than 0.3 in a day, so a correction of half a point is spread over two days with a test in between. The published ranges give a target: 6.5 to 7.5 for community and shrimp tanks, 7.2 to 7.6 for goldfish and 7.8 to 9.2 for African cichlids. It is not for dosing pumps, and it pairs with Aqua Pro KH, since a tank without carbonate hardness holds no pH for long.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Nano and small tanks: Systems under about 60 L where drops give the control a pH adjuster needs.
• pH below the published range: Community tanks under 6.5 or goldfish tanks under 7.2, for example.
• After a KH crash: Lifting pH back once Aqua Pro KH has restored the buffer.
• Any freshwater set-up: Planted, fish-only, shrimp and pond systems.

Dosing & Administration Guide

• Test first: Know the current pH and the range Quantum publishes for the tank type.
• 10 drops per 10 L: Raises pH by about 0.2; add into high flow, no shaking needed.
• Never more than 0.3 a day: Retest before any second dose and spread larger corrections over several days.
• Hand dosing only: Not for dosing pumps; fix KH with Aqua Pro KH so the new pH holds.
