Phosphate in a nano reef climbs fast and shows itself as film algae on the glass within days. Quantum AR Phosphate Remover 100ml (SKU: QA150100) is a solution of purified lanthanum in deionised water that binds both ionic and chemically bound phosphate and precipitates it out of the water, where mechanical filtration collects it. Because the bottle is dosed in drops per 50 L, it gives a small tank the fine control that lanthanum needs, and Quantum rates it for LPS, mixed, SPS, NPS and FOWLR systems.

The dose scales with the phosphate reading, from 1 to 10 drops per 50 L a day at 0.03 to 0.25 ppm up to 100 drops per 50 L above 10 ppm, with the full table in the details below. The solution goes directly into high water flow and it can be run through a dosing pump. Two cautions apply: a fine white film building on the glass means the dose is too high and should be reduced, and the product must not be used in aquariums containing live plants. Test phosphate regularly so the daily amount tracks the falling reading rather than running ahead of it.

• Test first, then read the table: Match the daily drops per 50 L to the phosphate range, starting at the low end of that range.
• Dose into high flow: Add the drops where circulation is strongest so the lanthanum disperses before it precipitates.
• Watch the glass: A fine white film means overdosing; cut the dose back.
• Retest and reduce: Step the dose down as phosphate falls, and never use it in a tank with live plants.
