Quantum Aragonite A 5L — Bulk Liquid Calcium Supplement for Large Reef Systems and Coral Farms

Large stony coral systems can consume 10 to 20 ppm of calcium a day, and at that rate only a bulk container makes sense. Quantum Aragonite A 5L (SKU: QA101010) is the calcium part of the three-part Aragonite system in its largest size, a solution of calcium, strontium and barium in deionised water, dosed with Aragonite B for alkalinity and Aragonite C for magnesium. The strength is the same as the bottles: 1 mL per 100 L raises calcium by about 2 ppm, so a 500 L system consuming 10 ppm a day needs around 25 mL.

The target remains 405 to 440 ppm calcium, and the daily rate of 0.5 to 1.0 mL per 100 L is a starting point that heavily stocked systems will often exceed once testing shows the real consumption. The 5 L container’s capful holds 20 mL. As with the smaller sizes, the solution is not to be shaken and should be dosed into high flow, separately from the alkalinity part. It is suited to dosing pumps, and a 5 L container will typically be plumbed straight into a doser line. At 0.75 mL per 100 L, 5 L sustains a 1,000 L system for about twenty-two months.

Dosing & Administration Guide

• Base the rate on consumption: Start at 0.5 to 1.0 mL per 100 L per day and raise it as tests show calcium falling.
• Avoid shaking the container: Draw from it or pump from it without agitation.
• Dose into high flow: Keep the calcium line well away from the Aragonite B and C lines.
• Weekly tests: Hold 405 to 440 ppm, adjusting by the 2 ppm per mL per 100 L rule.
