Quantum Aragonite B 5L — Bulk Liquid Alkalinity Buffer for Large Reef Systems and Frag Farms

Big SPS systems and coral farms use alkalinity buffer by the litre each month, and Quantum Aragonite B 5L (SKU: QA111010) is the alkalinity part of the three-part Aragonite system in the container built for that. It is a buffer solution in deionised water, dosed alongside Aragonite A for calcium and Aragonite C for magnesium, at the same strength as the bottles: 1 mL per 100 L raises alkalinity by about 0.1 dKH. A 1,000 L system consuming 0.3 dKH a day therefore needs about 30 mL, which a 5 L container supplies for well over five months.

The target is unchanged at 7.4 to 10.5 dKH, or 132 to 188 ppm, and the published daily rate of 0.5, 0.75 or 1.0 mL per 100 L is a starting point that heavily stocked systems will usually pass once tests reveal the real consumption. The solution is suited to dosing pumps, and a 5 L container is normally plumbed straight into the alkalinity line rather than decanted. Dose into high flow at a separate point from the calcium part. At the moderate rate of 0.75 mL per 100 L, 5 L buffers a 1,000 L system for about twenty-two months.

• Coral farms and frag racks: Grow-out systems where alkalinity is consumed quickly and constantly.
• Multi-tank dosing: One container feeding the alkalinity line on several systems.
• Retail and holding systems: Shop tanks holding alkalinity steady for stony coral stock.

Dosing & Administration Guide

• Measure consumption: Start at 0.5 to 1.0 mL per 100 L per day and raise the rate as tests show alkalinity dropping.
• Dedicated line: Run the buffer on its own pump line into high flow, well away from the Aragonite A line.
• Increment, do not leap: Each 1 mL per 100 L is about 0.1 dKH; large systems still prefer small daily changes.
• Weekly testing: Hold 7.4 to 10.5 dKH and recheck the rate whenever livestock is added.
