On a 300 L reef the magnesium channel of a doser is the one refilled least often, and a litre bottle stretches the interval further still. Quantum Aragonite C 1L (SKU: QA121000) is the magnesium part of Quantum’s three-part Aragonite system in the litre size, a solution of magnesium, sulphate and trace elements in deionised water, dosed alongside Aragonite A (calcium) and Aragonite B (alkalinity). Each 1 mL per 100 L raises magnesium by about 1 ppm, a maintenance rate designed to replace daily consumption, and Quantum’s published range is 1,230 to 1,310 ppm. The litre suits displays of 200 to 400 L.
The daily rate is 0.5, 0.75 or 1.0 mL per 100 L for light, moderate or heavy stocking, chosen by testing and adjusted in small steps; once settled, a test every week or two is enough. The solution runs on a dosing pump, which is how a litre is generally used, and goes into high flow at its own dose point away from the calcium and alkalinity lines. A large shortfall is made up over several days, given the modest effect per millilitre. At 0.75 mL per 100 L a litre keeps a 300 L reef supplied for around fifteen months.
