Quantum Aragonite C 250ml — Magnesium part of the three-part Aragonite dosing system
Magnesium is consumed more slowly than calcium or alkalinity, which is why the smallest bottle of it lasts longest. Quantum Aragonite C 250ml (SKU: QA120250) is the magnesium part of Quantum’s three-part Aragonite system, a solution of magnesium, sulphate and trace elements in deionised water, dosed alongside Aragonite A (calcium) and Aragonite B (alkalinity). Each 1 mL per 100 L raises magnesium by about 1 ppm, a maintenance-strength rate intended to replace daily consumption rather than correct a large shortfall in one dose. Quantum’s published magnesium range for the system is 1,230 to 1,310 ppm, and the bottle carries the same solution as the larger sizes.
The daily rate is 0.5, 0.75 or 1.0 mL per 100 L for lightly, moderately or heavily stocked aquariums, and because magnesium moves slowly it is usually tested every week or two rather than daily. The solution can run through a dosing pump and is added into high flow at its own dose point, separate from the A and B lines. A reading 50 ppm below range is brought back over several days, since each 1 mL per 100 L adds only about 1 ppm. At 0.75 mL per 100 L a 250 mL bottle covers a 60 L nano for about eighteen months.
Usage & Application
When to Use
- Nano reefs: Small systems with a modest daily magnesium draw.
- Completing a three-part set: The magnesium bottle to run with Aragonite A and B on a small tank.
- Holding a tested level: Aquariums where magnesium drifts down between water changes.
- Frag tanks: Small volumes kept at the same magnesium reading as the display.
Dosing & Administration Guide
- Test first: Start at 0.5 mL per 100 L per day and move to 0.75 or 1.0 mL if the reading keeps falling.
- Dose into flow: Add in a high-flow area at a point separate from Aragonite A and B.
- Correct slowly: Each 1 mL per 100 L adds about 1 ppm, so restore a low reading over several days.
- Retest fortnightly: Keep magnesium within 1,230 to 1,310 ppm and adjust the daily dose in small steps.
