A new tank, a moved tank or a tank with a dead fish behind the rock all have the same problem for a few days: ammonia the filter cannot yet handle. Quantum Bio-active Zeolite 1.2kg (SKU: QA601200) is a natural zeolite media that removes ammonia and ammonium, nitrite, nutrients, heavy metals and other unwanted molecules from aquarium water. Quantum sources a grade originally used to sanitise human drinking water, with a smaller, more consistent particle size that also gives beneficial bacteria more surface to colonise. It is safe in every kind of aquarium, freshwater, planted, pond, FOWLR and reef, and ships in a non-metallic zip bag.

The dose is monthly and scales with stocking: 30 g per 100 L for a lightly stocked tank, 50 g for moderate and 70 g for heavy. That makes the 1.2 kg pack a month’s media for anything from about 1,700 L heavily stocked to 4,000 L lightly stocked, or many months on a home tank; a 200 L community aquarium uses 100 g a month and gets a year from the pack. The bag sits in a media reactor or a high-flow area, and it can run beside activated carbon so long as the two are kept in separate bags. Parameters should be monitored and supplemented as needed.
