The halogens are the elements a reef runs out of quietly, because standard test kits rarely cover them and the corals fade before anyone notices. Quantum Bio-Gen 100ml (SKU: QA190100) is a solution of iodide, fluoride and bromide in deionised water, formulated to intensify white, blue and violet coral colour while helping to reduce bleaching, improve calcification and support the corals’ natural resistance. The 100 mL bottle is dosed in drops per 50 L, which suits nano and small reefs, and Quantum rates it for LPS, mixed, SPS and NPS systems.

Dosing follows stocking: 5 drops per 50 L daily for a lightly stocked tank, 7 for moderate and 10 for heavy, with 20 drops making about 1 mL. Each 1 mL per 100 L raises total iodine by about 0.02 ppm and the other halogens in proportion, and Quantum’s targets are 0.06 to 0.09 ppm total iodine, 60 to 70 ppm bromine and 1.0 to 1.2 ppm fluorine. The solution goes directly into high water flow, needs no shaking and suits a dosing pump. At 7 drops per 50 L, a 100 L nano uses 14 drops a day and the bottle lasts about four and a half months.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Nano reefs: Small LPS, mixed and SPS tanks where drops give a workable daily dose.
• Fading blues and whites: Corals whose blue, violet or white tissue has dulled since the tank matured.
• Systems without halogen dosing: Tanks on two-part or three-part that replace nothing else.
• NPS tanks: Non-photosynthetic corals that still draw on iodide and bromide.

Dosing & Administration Guide

• Choose the rate: 5, 7 or 10 drops per 50 L per day for light, moderate or heavy stocking.
• Dose into high flow: Add the drops where circulation is strongest; shaking is not required.
• Test when you can: Aim for 0.06 to 0.09 ppm total iodine, with 1 mL per 100 L adding about 0.02 ppm.
• Automate if wanted: The solution is suitable for a dosing pump once the rate is settled.
