Quantum Bio-Gen 500ml — Halogen Supplement for Coral Colour and Calcification in Mid-Size Reefs

A 300 L SPS reef dosing halogens daily gets through about 2 mL a day, and the 500 mL bottle is the size that turns that into a routine rather than a reorder. Quantum Bio-Gen 500ml (SKU: QA190500) is a solution of iodide, fluoride and bromide in deionised water, formulated to intensify white, blue and violet coral colour and to help reduce bleaching, improve calcification and support the corals’ natural resistance. It is rated for LPS, mixed, SPS and NPS systems and dosed in millilitres per 100 L with a 10 mL capful.

The rate is 0.50, 0.75 or 1.00 mL per 100 L daily for light, moderate or heavy stocking. Each 1 mL per 100 L raises total iodine by about 0.02 ppm, with bromine and fluorine rising in proportion, and the targets are 0.06 to 0.09 ppm total iodine, 60 to 70 ppm bromine and 1.0 to 1.2 ppm fluorine. The solution is added directly into high water flow without shaking and is suitable for dosing pumps. On a 300 L reef at the moderate rate, 2.25 mL a day means the bottle lasts a little over seven months.

Dosing & Administration Guide

• Pick the stocking rate: 0.50, 0.75 or 1.00 mL per 100 L per day.
• High-flow addition: By hand or pump into strong circulation; the bottle does not need shaking.
• Test against the targets: 0.06 to 0.09 ppm total iodine, with 0.02 ppm added per 1 mL per 100 L.
• Adjust with stocking: Move up a rate as coral cover grows and demand for halogens rises with it.
