Quantum Bio-Kalium 1L — Litre of Potassium and Boron Supplement for Large Reef Systems

Once a reef passes 400 L the daily potassium dose runs to several millilitres, and the litre bottle is where the routine settles. Quantum Bio-Kalium 1L (SKU: QA201000) is a solution of ionic and complexed potassium with boron and an energy component in deionised water, formulated to intensify red and pink coral colour. Potassium supports nutrient transport within the coral and, with boron, aids aragonite production. It is dosed in millilitres per 100 L, carries a 10 mL capful, and is rated for LPS, mixed, SPS and NPS systems, where it usually feeds a dosing-pump channel.

Per 100 L per day the dose is 0.50 mL for a lightly stocked reef, 0.75 mL for a moderately stocked one and 1.00 mL for a heavily stocked system. Each 1 mL per 100 L raises potassium by about 1 ppm and boron in proportion, against maintenance targets of 375 to 400 ppm potassium and 4 to 5 ppm boron. Add directly into high water flow without shaking, by hand or through a pump. A 500 L reef at the moderate rate uses 3.75 mL a day, so a litre lasts close to nine months.

When to Use

• Large reef displays: Systems from about 400 L upwards keeping LPS, mixed or SPS corals.
• Dosing-pump reservoirs: A litre that refills the potassium channel a few times a year.
• Red and pink SPS collections: Systems with a lot of montipora and pocillopora to keep warm-toned.
• Zeolite and carbon users: Tanks whose media strips potassium steadily.

Dosing & Administration Guide

• Rate by stocking: 0.50, 0.75 or 1.00 mL per 100 L daily.
• Deliver into flow: Pump line or hand dose into strong circulation; shaking is not required.
• Test and maintain: Potassium 375 to 400 ppm and boron 4 to 5 ppm; about 1 ppm potassium per 1 mL per 100 L.
• Review with growth: Increase the rate as coral cover fills the tank and potassium demand climbs.
