Red montipora and pink birdsnest lose their colour when potassium slips below 375 ppm, and a salt mix alone rarely holds it there. Quantum Bio-Kalium 250ml (SKU: QA200250) is a solution of ionic and complexed potassium with boron and an energy component in deionised water, formulated to intensify red and pink coral colour. Potassium moves nutrients within the coral, and with boron it aids the production of aragonite. The 250 mL bottle is dosed in millilitres per 100 L with a 10 mL capful, and Quantum rates it for LPS, mixed, SPS and NPS systems.

The daily dose is 0.50 mL per 100 L on a lightly stocked tank, 0.75 mL on a moderate one and 1.00 mL where corals are dense. Each 1 mL per 100 L raises potassium by about 1 ppm with boron rising in proportion, against maintenance targets of 375 to 400 ppm potassium and 4 to 5 ppm boron. The solution goes directly into high water flow, needs no shaking, and can be run on a dosing pump. On a 200 L reef the moderate rate comes to 1.5 mL a day, which stretches the bottle to roughly five and a half months.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Small to mid-sized reefs: LPS, mixed and SPS tanks between 100 and 250 L on daily colour dosing.
• Red and pink SPS: Montipora, seriatopora and pocillopora that have lost their warmth.
• Potassium-hungry systems: Tanks running zeolite or heavy carbon that strip potassium.
• Part of a colour set: Alongside Bio-Gen for blues and Bio-Metals for greens.

Dosing & Administration Guide

• Daily rate: 0.50, 0.75 or 1.00 mL per 100 L by stocking.
• High-flow dosing: By hand or pump into strong circulation; shaking is not required.
• Test and hold: Keep potassium at 375 to 400 ppm; each 1 mL per 100 L adds about 1 ppm.
• Correct slowly: Bring a low reading up over several days rather than in one large dose that could stress the corals.
