Iron sits at parts-per-billion levels in reef water, so the difference between vivid green and brown is a few millilitres a day. Quantum Bio-Metals 500ml (SKU: QA210500) supplies that in a form that lasts: ionic and complexed metals for immediate availability plus chelated metals for sustained release, principally iron and manganese with trace elements, in deionised water. It is formulated to intensify green coral colour, dosed in millilitres per 100 L with a 10 mL capful, and rated for LPS, mixed, SPS and NPS systems. The 500 mL bottle suits mid-sized reefs.

Quantum’s rate is 0.50, 0.75 or 1.00 mL per 100 L a day according to stocking, on the tank’s net water volume. Each millilitre per 100 L raises iron by approximately 0.01 ppm with the other metals in proportion, and the target iron concentration is 0.005 to 0.015 ppm, a range narrow enough that testing every few weeks is worthwhile. The dose goes straight into high flow without shaking, by hand or pump. A 300 L reef at the moderate rate uses 2.25 mL a day, so the bottle lasts a little over seven months.

• Mid-sized reefs: Tanks of roughly 200 to 400 L keeping LPS, mixed or SPS corals and dosing metals daily.
• Green colour work: Tanks where green acropora, montipora and favia have browned.
• Doser owners: Half a litre keeps a metals channel topped up for a good seven months on a 300 L tank.
• Metal-stripping filtration: Systems running GFO, carbon or heavy skimming.

Dosing & Administration Guide

• Stocking-based dose: 0.50, 0.75 or 1.00 mL per 100 L daily, calculated on the water volume left after rock and sand.
• High flow, unshaken: Hand dose or pump into strong circulation so the metals disperse before corals meet them.
• Test iron: Hold 0.005 to 0.015 ppm; each 1 mL per 100 L adds about 0.01 ppm.
• Adjust with cover: Raise the rate as coral mass grows and the tank moves from light to moderate stocking.
