For most home aquariums the weekly job is the same: a bucket or two of tap water made safe before it goes in. Quantum Water Primer 250mL (SKU: QA010250) handles it at 1 mL per 60 L, so a 250 mL bottle covers roughly 15,000 L of new water, a year or more of changes on a 200 L community tank. It strips chlorine and chloramine and also detoxifies ammonia, nitrite and nitrate and binds heavy metals, which means the same bottle is the first thing to reach for when a test kit shows ammonia after a fish death.

Quantum’s formula is deionised water carrying a blend of removing and detoxifying salts, and it is deliberately simple to use. There is no shaking; the measured amount goes into a high-flow part of the tank or into the change bucket while it mixes. The cap on this size holds about 10 mL, and the label gives two rates: the everyday water-change dose and a five-times emergency dose for spikes caused by a death, a pH swing or another major parameter shift. It suits freshwater, saltwater and planted aquariums, and Quantum notes that it cannot be run through a dosing pump.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Weekly water changes: Conditions new tap water for community, cichlid and planted tanks up to a few hundred litres.
• Marine top-ups and changes: Works in saltwater as well as fresh, so one bottle covers a reef and a freshwater tank.
• Ammonia after a loss: The emergency dose detoxifies ammonia and nitrite while the filter catches up.
• Chloramine areas: A double dose handles heavily treated town water without a second product.

Dosing & Administration Guide

• Water-change dose: 1 mL per 60 L of new water, or 5 mL per 300 L (1 capful is roughly 10 mL).
• Emergency dose: 5 mL per 60 L, or 25 mL per 300 L, when ammonia or nitrite appears.
• High chlorine or chloramine: Double the water-change dose if the supply is heavily treated.
• Adding it: No shaking; pour into high flow, working from tank plus filter volume minus rock, media and ornaments. Not suitable for dosing pumps.
