Red Sea states that 1 mL raises the magnesium level of 100 L by 1 ppm, and dosing follows the magnesium the aquarium is measured to consume rather than a fixed daily amount.

Red Sea’s recipes for the Reef Care Program range from about 1,220 to 1,390 ppm magnesium depending on aquarium type, 1,350 ppm for a mixed reef, and 1,310 ppm is the level in Red Sea Salt at 35 ppt. At 1 ppm per 1 mL per 100 L, 5 L replaces a weekly draw of 10 ppm on a 1,000 L system for about a year, or raises it by 500 ppm in total. The container feeds a dosing pump directly or is measured by hand into high flow, and Red Sea advises testing all three foundation elements weekly on daily dosing and monthly on weekly dosing.
