Seachem Alkaline Buffer 600g (SKU: 724988-233) is an economical, high-capacity non-phosphate buffer formulated to increase pH and carbonate hardness (KH) in medium to large freshwater aquariums. In heavily stocked or heavily planted aquariums, biological filtration continuously consumes alkalinity, leading to gradual pH drops. Alkaline Buffer restores lost carbonate hardness to keep water chemistry stable.

Unlike traditional phosphate buffers, Alkaline Buffer does not contribute to nuisance algae growth, making it suitable for aquascapes and tanks with high lighting. When combined with Seachem Acid Buffer, it allows aquarists to fine-tune pH values anywhere between 5.0 and 8.0.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Large Planted Tanks: Keeps KH stable in large planted aquariums without introducing excess phosphates.
