Description
Aqua Medic Ozone Booster – Air Dryer — Silica gel chamber that dries intake air for stronger ozone output
An ozoniser fed with humid air from inside a cabinet or a fish room makes noticeably less ozone than one fed with dry air, and the usual fix is a drying stage ahead of the generator rather than a bigger unit. Aqua Medic Ozone Booster – Air Dryer (SKU: AB65027) is Aqua Medic’s air-drying chamber for ozone generators, a cylindrical housing about 80 mm in diameter and 240 mm long, supplied filled with 1 L of silica gel. Air drawn through the chamber gives up its moisture to the gel before reaching the ozoniser, and Aqua Medic states that the drier air this produces results in much higher ozone output. The booster connects with 4/6 mm hose at both ends and fits the full range of Aqua Medic ozonisers as well as many other brands, slotting into an existing air line with no change to the generator itself.
The gel inside is the colour-indicating type Aqua Medic also sells as a refill: pearls mixed through the granulate change colour once their drying capacity is used up, the visible cue that the charge needs replacing rather than a fixed time interval. A spent, humid charge lets more moisture through and output falls away, so the booster earns its keep wherever the generator’s air is drawn from inside a stand or a damp fish room rather than dry outside air. The matching refill is Aqua Medic’s Silicagel Air Dryer Refill 1 L (SKU AB12730), sized to recharge this chamber. The booster has no electrical connection or moving parts; it is simply a drying stage between the air source and a generator such as Aqua Medic’s Ozone 30, 90 or 250.
Usage & Application
When to Use
- Humid cabinets and fish rooms: Air drawn from inside a stand or a damp room cuts ozone output without a drying stage.
- Any ozone generator: Fits Aqua Medic’s own range and many third-party ozonisers.
- Falling ozone performance: A first check when output drops with no change to the generator itself.
- Continuous dosing: Ozone set-ups run around the clock, where air humidity varies through the day.
Installation & Setup Guide
- Position in the air line: Fit the booster between the air source and the ozone generator’s intake.
- Connect the hose: Use 4/6 mm hose on both the inlet and outlet of the chamber.
- Watch the indicator: Check the colour of the silica gel pearls from time to time.
- Recharge when spent: Refill with Aqua Medic Silicagel Air Dryer Refill 1 L once the colour change has worked through the charge.
