Ludwigia Brevipes (Long Eames)

Native to the southeastern U.S., Ludwigia Brevipes, also called Long Eames, thrives in boggy environments. It is a fast-growing plant with thick stems and long, slender reddish leaves, resembling Ludwigia Arcuata with its thin, needle-like foliage.

Moderate lighting is key for healthy growth, while additional macro and micro nutrients support development, especially when CO₂ is supplied. Low nitrate or high phosphate levels may cause orange-red tips on the shoots. The Long Eames grows well when fully immersed, given sufficient light.

Routine trimming of older or unsightly shoots encourages lateral growth, creating a bushy appearance. Propagation is straightforward: simply cut lateral shoots or shoot tips and replant them in the substrate.

Visually, the Long Eames works best in the foreground or midground, planted in clusters alongside darker green plants to accentuate the vibrant red tones of its delicate leaves.
