Ecoscape Large Rotala Purple

Description

Ecoscape Large Rotala Purple — 30 cm artificial purple Rotala for background colour in standard tanks

A row of coloured stem plants along the back glass is the classic Dutch-style look, but keeping live Rotala purple at 30 cm means strong lighting, fertiliser and constant trimming. Ecoscape Large Rotala Purple (SKU: 28279) is the Large size of Aqua One’s Ecoscape Rotala, an artificial plant with dense, fine purple leaves on upright stems, modelled on the Rotala stem plants grown for their coloured tops. Ecoscape Large plants are listed by Australian retailers at about 30 cm tall. The stems are fixed to a weighted base, so the plant stands where it is set and can be repositioned at any time.

Thirty centimetres gives background height in a tank about 35 to 45 cm tall and fills the back corners of a shallower one. It is the middle size of three in the store: the Medium (SKU 28271, about 20 cm) can sit in front to step the colour down, and the Xlarge (SKU 28288, about 40 cm) suits deeper aquariums. Purple reads strongest against green, so a Large Rotala between green background plants makes a band of colour rather than a block. Aqua One describes Ecoscape plants as non-toxic and aquarium safe, needing no special lighting, pruning or supplements, safe with destructive fish such as cichlids, and easy to remove and clean. The plastic will not drop leaves or decay, so it adds no waste to the water and leaves nothing to clog the filter intake or melt away after a move. The range is listed for coldwater, tropical and marine tanks; rinse thoroughly in tap water before use, as Aqua One directs.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Background colour: A purple band along the back of a standard tank.
• Dutch-style rows: Coloured stems between green background plants.
• Cichlid and goldfish tanks: Stem-plant colour that fish cannot destroy.
• No-CO₂ tanks: Purple that needs no high light or injection.

Placement & Care Guide

• Wash first: Rinse thoroughly in tap water, no soap.
• Back row: Set behind lower green plants so the purple shows above them.
• Pair with the Medium: A Medium Rotala in front grades the colour forward.
• Keep it bright: Rinse algae off the fine leaves during water changes.
