Ecoscape Medium Ambulia Green

Description

Ecoscape Medium Ambulia Green — Mid-height feathery stem plant that bridges foreground and background

The middle of an aquascape is where a tank either looks planted or looks like a few ornaments on gravel, and it is also where live stem plants need the most trimming to stay in proportion. Ecoscape Medium Ambulia Green (SKU: 28276) is the Medium size of Aqua One’s Ecoscape Ambulia, a plastic artificial plant with the soft, needle-fine leaf whorls of Limnophila sessiliflora, the fast-growing Asian stem plant sold live as Ambulia. Retailer listings give Ecoscape Medium plants a height of about 20 cm. A weighted base holds it upright in gravel or sand, so it can be moved as the layout changes.

At around 20 cm, the Medium fills the mid-ground of a standard 60 cm tank or sits in the background of a shallow 30 to 40 cm tank, where it reaches roughly halfway to the surface. Aqua One describes the Ecoscape range as needing no special lighting, supplements or pruning, safe to use with destructive fish such as cichlids, unable to bring in pests or parasites, and lasting longer than live plants because it never rots. Grouped with the Small (SKU 28266) in front and the Large (SKU 28284) or Xlarge (SKU 28292) behind, it builds a graded bank of the same green so the planting reads as one species. Retailers list the range for coldwater and tropical tanks, with some listing marine as well, and each plant may vary slightly from the photo. Being artificial, it takes up no nitrate, so regular partial water changes stay the main algae control.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Mid-ground filler: Softens the line between low foreground plants and tall background stems.
• Shallow tanks: A background plant for tanks around 30 to 40 cm tall.
• Goldfish and cichlids: Fine-leaved greenery that cannot be eaten or uprooted for good.
• Hiding spots: Dense foliage where shy fish and fry can take cover.

Placement & Care Guide

• Rinse before use: Plain tap water only, no soaps or cleaners.
• Bed it in: Push the weighted base into the substrate until the stems stand straight.
• Stagger the heights: Place Mediums between Smalls in front and Larges behind.
• Remove algae: Take it out at a water change and brush the leaves under running water.
