Ecoscape Small Ambulia/fern Green

Description

Ecoscape Small Ambulia/fern Green — Two-texture foreground plant mixing feathery stems with fern fronds

A single leaf shape across a whole tank can look flat, and mixing live species of different textures means juggling different light and trimming needs. Ecoscape Small Ambulia/fern Green (SKU: 16453) is a small Aqua One Ecoscape artificial plant that pairs two leaf types on one weighted base: the fine, feathery whorls of Ambulia (Limnophila sessiliflora) and broader fern-style fronds, both in green. Retailer listings put Ecoscape Small plants at about 10 cm tall, so it sits in the foreground or along the front edge of a hardscape. It is plastic, so it keeps the same shape and colour without light, fertiliser or cutting back.

Aqua One states that the Ecoscape range needs no special lighting, supplements or pruning, is safe with destructive fish such as cichlids, carries no risk of introducing pests or parasites, and does not decay, so it holds its shape longer than a live plant. The combination of soft and flat leaves gives texture at a scale that suits nano aquariums, betta tanks and the front row of a larger layout, where it can soften the base of rocks or driftwood. For more height in the same style, the Medium Ambulia/fern Green (SKU 28256) is around twice as tall. Small fish and shrimp use the low foliage as cover near the substrate. The range is sold for coldwater and tropical tanks, some Australian retailers also list marine, and each plant may vary slightly from the photo. In a betta tank, check the fronds for sharp edges before use, since long fins can catch on hard plastic.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Front of the tank: Mixed-texture greenery that stays below the line of sight.
• Nano and betta set-ups: Two leaf styles from one small plant in a small space.
• Around hardscape: Softens the base of rocks, wood and ornaments.
• Grazing or digging fish: Foliage that goldfish and cichlids cannot strip.

Placement & Care Guide

• Rinse first: Rinse in tap water before use, without soap.
• Seat the base: Press the weighted base into the gravel and level it.
• Face the fronds forward: Turn the plant so the fern leaves show against the Ambulia.
• Brush clean: Remove algae with a soft brush under running water.
