Ecoscape Xlarge Ambulia Green

Description

Ecoscape Xlarge Ambulia Green — Tallest Ecoscape Ambulia for the back of deep and large aquariums

Deep tanks swallow small plants, and a background that stops halfway up the glass leaves the top of the water column looking empty. Ecoscape Xlarge Ambulia Green (SKU: 28292) is the tallest size of Aqua One’s Ecoscape Ambulia, a plastic artificial plant built to resemble Limnophila sessiliflora, a stem plant with soft, finely divided green leaves arranged in rings up each stem. Retailer listings give Ecoscape Xlarge plants a height of about 40 cm, enough to rise well into the upper half of a 45 to 50 cm tall aquarium. A weighted base keeps the tall stems standing in gravel or sand.

The Xlarge is the size for big displays: 90 cm and 120 cm tanks, tall cubes and deep cichlid or goldfish set-ups where 20 or 30 cm plants disappear into the background. Aqua One states that the Ecoscape range needs no special lighting, supplements or pruning, is safe with destructive fish such as cichlids, carries no risk of introducing pests or parasites, and does not decay, so the planting looks the same year after year. A row of Xlarges along the back with the Large (SKU 28284), Medium (SKU 28276) and Small (SKU 28266) stepping down to the front creates a full-height bank of a single plant type. Its long, fine-leaved stems also break up sight lines for territorial fish. The range is listed for coldwater and tropical tanks, some retailers add marine, and each plant may differ slightly from the photo.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Deep aquariums: Background height for tanks of about 45 cm and taller.
• Large displays: Fills the back of 90 cm and 120 cm tanks without dozens of small plants.
• Territorial fish: Tall cover that breaks up sight lines between rivals.
• Hiding equipment: Screens tall heaters, intake pipes and airline.

Placement & Care Guide

• Rinse first: Clean water only; no detergent or household cleaner.
• Bury the base well: A deeper bed of substrate over the weighted base steadies a tall plant.
• Keep clear of outlets: Strong filter returns can lean tall stems; place to the side of the flow.
• Clean outside the tank: Lift out and scrub algae off with a soft brush under running water.
