A reef that has started to grow stony corals usually needs calcium and carbonate replaced every day, plus one more supplement, and three separate single pumps make for a crowded cabinet. Aqua Medic Reefdoser EVO 3 (SKU: AM104203) is the three-channel model of Aqua Medic’s reefdoser EVO series, three calibratable peristaltic pumps in one housing of about 197 × 105 × 127 mm, each channel calibrated individually and programmed separately. Aqua Medic names calcium and hydrogen carbonate addition in reef aquariums among its main uses, together with trace elements, fertilisers, lime water and automatic feeding of live plankton, so a typical layout is calcium on one channel, carbonate on another and trace elements or magnesium on the third.

Schedules are set in the Aqua Medic app over 2.4 GHz WLAN, with intervals from every second up to once daily per channel, and three touch keys on the unit give manual doses and fill the hoses. An LED shows which pump is running. Each channel is calibrated with at least 10 mL pumped into a measuring cylinder, on a level surface, and Aqua Medic advises diluting solutions with RO water where possible to improve accuracy. Splitting a daily calcium and carbonate dose into many small portions keeps the parameters steady, and offsetting the two channels in time stops the two solutions meeting at the same moment. A pump should not run for more than 15 minutes at a stretch without an equal pause, the lift is limited to 2 m, and corrosive or crystallising liquids must not be used. More EVO units can be added to the same app as needs grow.

Installation & Setup Guide

• Mount above a tray: Stand it or fix the foot to the wall over a drip tray, sump or tank, clear of humidity.
• Keep hoses short: Suction lines to the bottom of each container; dosing lines ending above the water surface.
• Label each line: Match every container to its channel before filling the hoses with the touch keys.
• Calibrate each channel: At least 10 mL per channel, then programme doses and intervals in the app.
