Fluval FX Nitrite Pads (SKU: FA151) are specialised chemical filter inserts custom-designed for Fluval FX4, FX5, and FX6 high-capacity canister filters. Infused with nitrite-binding resins, these pads strip toxic nitrite (NO₂⁻) ions directly from the water column. By preventing nitrite accumulation, they protect fish against oxygen deprivation and chemical stress during initial tank setup, bio-load increases, or biological filter maintenance.

Usage & Application

When to Use

  • Nitrite Cycling Phase: Use during weeks 2 through 5 of establishing a new aquarium when nitrite levels peak.

  • Bio-Filter Recovery: Apply after major filter maintenance or antibiotic treatments that temporarily weaken beneficial nitrifying bacteria.

  • Parameter Spikes: Insert whenever water testing reveals rising nitrite levels.

How to Use

  1. Power down the FX canister filter and access the main media basket assembly.

  2. Place the Nitrite Pad inside the media tray slot.

  3. Rinse under running tap water prior to initial installation.
