Seachem CupriSorb 500mL (SKU: 724982-203) is a high-capacity synthetic adsorbent designed to scrub heavy metals and copper residues from aquarium water. It is ideal for mid-sized marine displays, commercial maintenance applications, and planted setups plagued by heavy metal leaching from tap water pipes. CupriSorb binds ionic and chelated metals tightly, holding them permanently until acid regeneration.

Using CupriSorb prevents accidental copper poisoning, which can destroy bio-filtration, decimate coral colonies, and kill ornamental shrimp. Its visual colour transition from translucent yellow to dark blue-black allows aquarists to track copper absorption rates in real time.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Substrate & Rock Decontamination: Extracts copper trapped inside porous live rock or gravel substrates.

• Heavy Contamination Crises: Rapidly reduces toxic copper spikes resulting from accidental overdose or plumbing accidents.

• Highly recommended to use after copper-based water treatments or in cases where copper contamination necessarily needs to be eliminated to protect sensitive aquatic species.

Placement & Flow Guide

• Enclose the media in a fine-mesh media bag and secure it inside a media reactor, canister filter basket, or high-flow sump baffle.

• Replace or regenerate the resin once the entire volume turns dark black-blue.

• Copper levels of tank water should be regularly checked, and CupriSorb should be replaced or regenerated when it gets depleted.
