Seachem Matrix 1L (SKU: 725052-117) is a porous mineral biological media designed to maintain water parameters in freshwater and marine aquariums. Its porous structure supports beneficial bacteria that break down ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.

Providing a high internal surface area per litre, Matrix supports both aerobic and anaerobic bacterial colonies. It is chemically inert and will not alter pH, GH, or KH levels.

Usage & Application

When to Use

  • Standard Canister Filtration: Fits standard canister filter trays to maximise biological filtration.
  • System Upgrades: Replaces standard ceramic rings to expand bio-filtering capacity.

Placement & Usage Guide

  • Place inside a mesh media bag and insert into filter media trays.
  • Position downstream of mechanical filter pads to prevent detritus buildup in pores.
  • Rinse gently in used tank water during routine maintenance.
