Nano reefs have the least water to dilute waste and the least room for equipment, so a skimmer has to be both effective and narrow enough to hide. Aqua Medic EVO 100 Internal Nano Skimmer (SKU: AM410015) is Aqua Medic’s compact internal protein skimmer for saltwater aquariums up to 100 L, housed in an ultra-slim body of clear acrylic. A needle-wheel pump with a capacity of approximately 60 L/h produces the air-water mix, drawing a maximum of 5 W at 12 V, and the integrated controller lets the pump power be turned up or down to suit the tank’s bioload and the foam it produces.

The skimmer measures about 71 × 58 × 295 mm and has a maximum immersion depth of 220 mm, so it fits the rear chambers of many all-in-one nano tanks as well as the corner of a small display. Its variable height support system allows the skimmer to be raised or lowered to suit the water level, which, together with the controller, is how the foam is tuned wetter or drier. Because the body is clear, the bubble column and foam build-up can be checked without lifting the skimmer out. A silencer is supplied for the air intake, and the pump runs from a transformer for 110–240 V, 50–60 Hz mains. The EVO 501, rated to 250 L, is the larger internal skimmer in the same line.
