The Fluval FX UVC In-Line Unit 6W (SKU: PF166) is a high-efficiency ultraviolet clarifier engineered specifically to attach in-line with Fluval FX Series high-capacity canister filters (FX2, FX4, and FX6). By exposing passing water to targeted UV-C light waves, it destroys free-floating single-celled algae (green water) as well as harmful bacteria, viruses, and parasites.

Utilising advanced CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) technology, the 6-Watt UVC unit operates cooler and lasts significantly longer than conventional UV bulbs while drawing minimal power. Its compact, direct-connect design mounts seamlessly onto FX filter output hosing or directly to the filter housing, purifying water without restricting filter turnover.

Ultraviolet clarification (also known as ultraviolet sterilisation) is a proven technology that has a long history of aquarium use: its benefits range from controlling and eradicating suspended bacteria, suspended single-cell algae, and various unwanted pathogens, to improving overall water clarity. The most effective wavelength for these purposes is 253 nm, which falls squarely into the UVC spectrum of light. While using a UVC Clarifier does not replace important aquarium husbandry practices such as regular partial water changes, regular filter maintenance, and the quarantining of new fish, it does add an extra layer of filtration that cannot be obtained otherwise.

How to Use / Installation Process

3. Secure hose clamps tightly to ensure leak-free operation.

4. Plug the low-voltage transformer into a power outlet, restart the FX filter, and check the safe indicator window to confirm UV operation.
