The Fluval FX6 Super Filter (SKU: PF150) is the flagship multi-stage canister filter built for large aquariums up to 1,500 litres. Driven by an advanced Smart Pump microchip-controlled motor, the FX6 pumps an incredible 3,500 litres per hour while continuously monitoring pump speed and magnetic impeller performance to optimise energy efficiency and power.

The FX6 features self-priming Smart Pump technology—simply add water, plug in, and the filter self-starts, automatically pausing every 12 hours to evacuate trapped air bubbles for whisper-quiet performance. Featuring stackable, removable media baskets and a built-in utility drain valve for rapid water changes, it provides ultimate filtration for high-volume displays.

Usage & Application

When to Use

  • Large Aquariums & Monster Tanks: Designed for aquariums up to 1,500 L housing heavy bio-loads like cichlids, goldfish, or predator species.
  • High-Flow Marine & Freshwater Setups: Provides massive circulation, mechanical straining, and biological processing.

How to Use / Installation Process

  • Arrange filter media into the stackable internal media baskets (Foam, BioMax, and specialty media).
  • Attach hosing using the AquaStop click-fit valves and position the heavy-duty rim connectors.
  • Pour at least 6 litres of water into the canister body to submerge the pump prior to initial start.
  • Plug into power; the Smart Pump system will self-prime, purge air, and initiate full filtration.
