Mantis Media Reactor – Mr100 (SKU: MA069401) is the smallest of the Mantis up-flow media reactors, a hand-crafted 100% acrylic chamber built for activated carbon, GFO or bio-pellets on tanks up to about 500 L. Water is fed in at the base and pushed up through the packed media bed via adjustable 20 mm hose barbs, so the full flow is forced through the chamber rather than finding a path of least resistance around it. Assembly is straightforward, with no extra fittings or tools needed beyond connecting the inlet and outlet hoses to a suitable pump.

The MR100’s chamber holds about 1,500 mL of media and the body measures roughly 152 × 152 × 365 mm, a size meant to sit beside a sump rather than inside it. Mantis suggests a pump delivering around 2,000 L/H to drive the up-flow at the right rate, slow enough that the media bed does not blow apart yet fast enough that water is turned over through the chamber regularly. The acrylic housing resists scratching and discolouration over time, and because the reactor is a passive chamber rather than a powered unit, it runs on whatever external pump is already feeding it, with no additional wiring of its own. For larger systems the same reactor is made in the Mr150 (SKU: MA069402) and Mr200 (SKU: MA069403) sizes, sharing the same up-flow design at a larger media capacity.

• Set the flow: Run a pump around 2,000 L/H and adjust the outlet valve until the media tumbles gently rather than slamming against the lid.
