Description

Dainichi Reef Veggie Fx 250g Small (3mm) Sinking Pellets — Standard-size herbivore pellet for adult tangs and surgeonfish

Once a tang or surgeonfish is confirmed to take a pelleted herbivore diet, a 100 g trial pack stops making sense and a standard restock size becomes the practical option. Dainichi Reef Veggie Fx 250g Small (3mm) Sinking Pellets (SKU: 101509) is the 250 g pack of Dainichi’s marine herbivore formula in the 3 mm Small sinking grade, the same kelp-led recipe as the smaller trial pack but sized for ongoing daily feeding. Freeze-dried copepods and dehydrated plankton sit alongside the kelp base for animal protein, and a two-spirulina blend together with Haematococcus algae supplies the astaxanthin that carries natural colour.

Dainichi’s guaranteed analysis is crude protein minimum 39%, crude fat minimum 5%, crude fibre maximum 4%, moisture maximum 9%, ash maximum 12%, calcium minimum 2% and phosphorus minimum 0.7%, a profile built around digestible plant matter. Wheat flour and wheat germ bind the pellet, montmorillonite clay and gum acacia support gut health and texture, and beta glucan is included for immune support. The maker’s directions are one to three feeds daily, only what is consumed within a few minutes, with smaller and more frequent feedings preferred over a single large one. The 3 mm Small grade suits adult-mouthed grazers, and a 250 g pack is enough for one actively grazing tang or a small reef community feeding on it daily for several weeks to months.

Usage & Application

When to Use

  • Adult tangs and surgeonfish: A restock size for herbivores already confirmed on the 3 mm grade.
  • Algae-light reef systems: Fills the gap when rock algae alone cannot sustain constant grazers.
  • Single display tanks: A 250 g pack suited to one actively grazing herbivore or a small group.
  • Routine herbivore feeding: A daily staple rather than an occasional treat.

Feeding Guide

  • One to three feeds daily: Offer only what is cleared within a few minutes.
  • Keep individual feeds small: Frequent light feeding suits grazing herbivores.
  • Feed near rockwork: The Small grade settles where tangs and surgeonfish naturally graze.
  • Seal the pack between feeds: Protects the vitamin and colour-enhancer content.
