Dainichi Ultima Krill 250g Medium (5mm) Sinking Pellets

Description

Dainichi Ultima Krill 250g Medium (5mm) Sinking Pellets — Standard-size krill pellet for large adult cichlids

A tank of full-grown frontosa or big Central American cichlids needs a pellet sized for an adult mouth, not a grade built for fry that disappears in one bite without any real feeding time. Dainichi Ultima Krill 250g Medium (5mm) Sinking Pellets (SKU: 101473) is the 250 g pack of Dainichi’s Ultima Krill formula in the 5 mm Medium sinking grade, the largest pellet size in the range, built on shrimp, Antarctic krill meal and white fish meal for omnivorous and carnivorous cichlids. Spirulina algae supplies much of the colour-enhancing effect and calcium montmorillonite clay is included to support digestion in a recipe otherwise dense in marine protein.

The guaranteed analysis is crude protein minimum 43%, crude fat minimum 6%, crude fibre maximum 3%, moisture maximum 9% and ash maximum 9%. Wheat germ and wheat flour are the only starch sources, soybean meal and brewers yeast round out the amino acid profile, and milk powder, vitamin mix, mineral mix, garlic, beta glucan and protease complete the recipe. Dainichi’s directions are to feed two to four times daily, only what is eaten within about a minute, and specifically not to pre-soak, since soaking is said to wash out colour enhancers and vitamins before feeding. The 5 mm Medium grade is the step up from the 3 mm Small pellet, and the 250 g pack suits a single tank of large adult cichlids fed daily over a run of weeks.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Large adult cichlids: A 5 mm grade sized for full-grown frontosa and similar species.
• Central American cichlids: Robust carnivorous and omnivorous species needing a sizeable pellet.
• Mature display tanks: A standard pack for fish already past the smaller grades.
• Daily routine feeding: A staple ration rather than an occasional treat.

Feeding Guide

• Two to four feeds daily: Offer only what is eaten within about a minute.
• Favour small feedings: Several light feeds suit cichlids better than one large one.
• Never pre-soak: Soaking is said to leach out colour enhancers and vitamins.
• Watch body condition: Ease off frequency if fish start looking heavy rather than muscular.
