Dainichi Ultima Krill 500g Medium (5mm) Sinking Pellets

Description

Dainichi Ultima Krill 500g Medium (5mm) Sinking Pellets — Larger sinking pellet for big-bodied omnivorous and carnivorous cichlids

A large flowerhorn, oscar or adult New World cichlid can lose interest in a food sized for a fish half its weight, picking at small pellets rather than feeding properly. Dainichi Ultima Krill 500g Medium (5mm) Sinking Pellets (SKU: 101576) is the largest pellet grade in Dainichi’s all-purpose Ultima Krill line, a 5 mm sinking pellet for omnivorous and carnivorous cichlids of all types that have outgrown the 3 mm Small size. Antarctic krill and two spirulina blends supply the colour, with shrimp added for palatability, while immuno-stimulants and digestive enzymes support general health in larger, more established fish. Garlic and raw vitamins help keep internal parasites in check, and calcium montmorillonite clay binds metabolic toxins and supports a clean digestive tract. Wheat flour binds the pellet and wheat germ supplies vitamins E and B.

The 5 mm Medium pellet is the top of the Ultima Krill size run, above the 1 mm Baby pellet for fry and the 3 mm Small pellet for juveniles, built for fish that can comfortably take a bigger bite without the pellet needing to be broken up first. Dainichi’s feeding direction still applies: offer only what the fish finish within a few minutes, one to three times daily, with smaller feeds preferred to one large meal even for big fish. The pellet sinks steadily, suiting bottom-feeding and mid-water cichlids as readily as fish that intercept it on the way down. Ultima Krill remains a maintenance diet rather than a specialist colour or growth formula, suited to everyday feeding of large adult cichlids. No guaranteed analysis is published for this pellet size. The same recipe is available in 250 g and 2.5 kg Medium packs, and as Baby (1mm) and Small (3mm) pellets for smaller fish.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Large adult cichlids: Flowerhorns, oscars and similar fish that need a substantial pellet.
• Established display tanks: Fish past juvenile size that have moved on from the 3 mm pellet.
• Mixed large collections: One formula across big omnivorous and carnivorous cichlids together.
• Reducing wasted feeds: A pellet sized to be taken whole rather than nibbled apart.

Feeding Guide

• One to three feeds daily: Dainichi’s standard routine, unchanged for the larger pellet.
• Portion for the fish, not the bag: Offer only what is cleared within a few minutes.
• Favour smaller feeds: Several lighter feeds suit digestion better than one large meal.
• Clear uneaten pellets: A bigger pellet left in the tank fouls water faster than a small one.
