A rearing tank of young Tropheus or Petrochromis fed on a plain herbivore pellet grows well enough, but misses out on the deeper colour a dedicated formula can build in from an early age. Dainichi Veggie Fx 250g Baby (1mm) Sinking Pellets (SKU: 101489) is Dainichi’s colour-enhancing herbivore formula at the 1 mm pellet size, built on the Veggie Deluxe base and coated and encapsulated with spirulina, freeze-dried Cyclop-eeze and NatuRose, a Haematococcus algae source of astaxanthin, plus E. superba krill. Six colour-enhancing ingredient applications are used, alongside raw vitamins, digestive enzymes and garlic for general health. The pellet is designed to break down into granules in the digestive tract rather than swell, which Dainichi aims at strict herbivores such as Tropheus that are prone to bloat.

At 1 mm, the Baby pellet is scaled for fry and juveniles rather than full-grown adults, which take the 3 mm Small grade in the same range. The recipe also includes kelp, white fish meal, soybean meal, wheat flour as binder, shrimp meal, wheat germ, brewer’s yeast, calcium montmorillonite clay, vitamin and mineral mixes, protease and natural gum.
