New Life Spectrum Algaemax Regular 2.2kg

Description

New Life Spectrum Algaemax Regular 2.2kg — Bulk 1 to 1.5 mm algae pellet for fish rooms, breeders and large small-fish collections

A breeder running dozens of tanks of mollies, platies and young plecos goes through a vegetable pellet by the kilogram, not by the jar. New Life Spectrum Algaemax Regular 2.2kg (SKU: 102320) is the 2.2 kg bulk pack of New Life Spectrum’s AlgaeMax herbivore diet in the regular 1 to 1.5 mm sinking pellet, made in the USA by New Life International. The maker bases the recipe on its Spectrum Nutrition Formula, adds a basket of nine aquatic vegetables, and states that it is tuned for herbivores while meeting the needs of omnivores. Marine protein from krill, squid and fish is included to echo the zooplankton and invertebrates that herbivorous fish eat in nature.

Six seaweeds, kelp and spirulina head the ingredient list, followed by whole wheat flour, garlic, ginger, astaxanthin and marigold. Guaranteed minimums are 34% crude protein and 8% crude fat, with maximums of 8% crude fibre and 10% moisture; vitamins A, D, E and C are guaranteed at 10,000, 3,500, 400 and 600 IU/kg respectively. New Life Spectrum’s standard direction for its pellets is to feed twice daily and offer only what is eaten in about a minute. The 2.2 kg pack holds roughly seven and a half times the 300 g jar, so it makes sense where many tanks are fed from one supply; decant a working quantity into a small sealed container and keep the bulk pack closed in a cool, dry place. For larger herbivores, the same formula is made in Medium, Large and Jumbo pellet sizes.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Breeding rooms: Daily vegetable feed for livebearer and pleco grow-out tanks.
• Retail and holding systems: One pellet for many tanks of small herbivores.
• Large community displays: Heavily stocked tanks where grazers feed all day.
• Weaning juveniles: Young herbivores moving from powder or crumble to a pellet.

Feeding Guide

• Decant a working supply: Fill a small airtight tub from the bulk pack to limit air exposure.
• Twice daily: Feed what each tank clears in about a minute.
• Adjust by stock: Heavily stocked tanks need more, but the one-minute rule still applies.
• Keep it dry: Reseal the bulk pack after each refill.
