Description
New Life Spectrum Betta Regular 70g — Larger jar of semi-floating betta pellets for sororities, breeders and multiple tanks
One betta goes through a 25 g jar slowly; a sorority, a breeding pair with a rack of jarred males, or a shelf of display bettas does not. New Life Spectrum Betta Regular 70g (SKU: 102291) is the 70 g jar of New Life Spectrum’s betta pellet, nearly three times the 25 g size, with the same regular 1 to 1.5 mm semi-floating pellet, made in the USA by New Life International. New Life Spectrum built the formula around what a betta eats in the wild, insects, worms and zooplankton, using krill, squid and fish as the leading proteins with micro-algae and dried fruit and vegetable powders for vitamins, minerals, amino acids and natural colour. There are no artificial preservatives, colours or hormonal colour enhancers in the recipe and no soybean, and the maker describes it as easily digestible.
The semi-floating behaviour is the point of a betta-specific pellet: it holds in the upper water where a labyrinth fish hunts, giving the fish time to take it, then settles slowly rather than lingering on the surface. Krill and squid head the ingredient list, with seaweeds, chlorella, garlic and astaxanthin behind them. New Life Spectrum’s standard direction is two feeds a day of an amount eaten within about a minute, which for a betta is a pinch of pellets, and the maker’s Spectrum Guarantee on vitality and colour applies when its food is the staple diet. At 70 g the jar suits keepers feeding more than one or two bettas, and keeps a breeding line on one food from juveniles to adults.
Usage & Application
When to Use
- Betta sororities: A group of females in a planted community tank fed on one pellet.
- Breeders and jarred males: Rows of grow-out jars that each need a few pellets twice daily.
- Multiple display tanks: Several bettas in separate desktop aquariums.
- Mixed labyrinth tanks: Gouramis, paradise fish and bettas that all feed at the surface.
Feeding Guide
- Twice daily: A small pinch per fish, finished within about a minute.
- Feed at the surface: Place pellets in front of the fish; they float briefly then sink slowly.
- Use a measuring spoon: With many jars to feed, a fixed scoop prevents overfeeding.
- Siphon the leftovers: Remove uneaten pellets from the bottom of small jars and tanks.
