New Life Spectrum Cichlid Sinking 80g

Description

New Life Spectrum Cichlid Sinking 80g — Small trial jar of 1 to 1.5 mm cichlid pellets for dwarf and juvenile cichlids

Switching a tank of apistogramma or young rams to a new staple is a gamble, and a small jar is the cheapest way to find out whether they will take it. New Life Spectrum Cichlid Sinking 80g (SKU: 102285) is the 80 g jar of New Life Spectrum’s Cichlid Formula in the regular 1 to 1.5 mm sinking pellet, made in the USA by New Life International. It is built on the maker’s core Spectrum Nutrition Formula and tuned for omnivorous, herbivorous and carnivorous cichlids, with marine protein and aquatic vegetables in one pellet. New Life Spectrum names South Antarctic krill and herring as the main animal ingredients, with an algae meal of seaweed, kelp, Haematococcus pluvialis and spirulina, a fruit and vegetable extract, and garlic at a generous inclusion rate.

The pellet is slow-sinking, so fish at mid-water take it on the way down and the remainder reaches the bottom for the substrate diggers. At 1 to 1.5 mm it suits dwarf cichlids, juvenile Africans and Central and South American species with small mouths. The maker adds no hormones and attributes colour and immune support to its natural colour-enhancing ingredients. Its directions are to feed twice daily, an amount eaten in a minute or less, and not to overfeed. The 80 g jar is the smallest size in the cichlid range: enough for a few weeks in one or two small tanks, and a low-risk trial before moving to the 150 g, 300 g, 600 g or 2.2 kg packs.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Dwarf cichlids: Apistogramma, rams and kribs that take fine pellets from mid-water.
• Juvenile cichlids: Young Africans and South Americans before they graduate to larger pellets.
• Trial feeding: A small quantity to test acceptance before buying more.
• Single small tanks: A pack sized for one or two modest aquariums.

Feeding Guide

• Two feeds a day: The portion eaten in about a minute.
• Scatter the pellets: Spread across the tank so shy fish are not out-competed.
• Transition gradually: Mix with the previous food over a few days.
• Keep it sealed: Close the jar and store it dry.
