New Life Spectrum Float Extra Large 350g

Description

New Life Spectrum Float Extra Large 350g — Floating 4.5–5 mm pellet for large cichlids and big surface feeders

A big fish taking a small pellet burns more effort than the food is worth, and a floating pellet in the 4.5 to 5 mm range gives it something worth rising for. New Life Spectrum Float Extra Large 350g (SKU: 102335) is the Extra Large size of New Life Spectrum’s Naturox series floating pellet. It is made on the Spectrum Nutrition Formula, which the maker describes as South Antarctic krill and herring with algae meal, spirulina, a fruit and vegetable extract and natural colour-enhancing ingredients, intended to support immune function. The pellets have positive buoyancy and most of them float. The 350 g bag is the smaller of the two Extra Large packs and suits a large-fish tank or two.

The typical ingredient list begins with whole Antarctic krill, whole herring and whole wheat flour, followed by algae, beta carotene, spirulina and garlic, with vitamins A, D, E and B12, minerals including iodine, cobalt, iron and manganese, and choline chloride. According to the maker, the high-dose anti-parasitic garlic is a Thera+A feature and is not in the Float formula. Extra Large sits above Large at 3 to 3.5 mm and below Jumbo at 7.5 to 8 mm, so it covers the awkward middle for fish that have outgrown one size but are not yet ready for the biggest pellet. In the catalogue it is paired with a 1.6 kg bulk pack of the same size.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Large cichlids: Fish that take food from the surface and ignore smaller pellets.
• Growing predators: A step up between 3.5 mm and 7.5 mm foods.
• One or two big tanks: A 350 g bag that stays fresh through a few months of feeding.
• Floating-food routines: Keepers who like to watch fish take food at the top.

Feeding Guide

• Feed what is eaten: Offer an amount finished within a minute or so.
• Allow for the size: A few large pellets go a long way, so count them out rather than pouring.
• Skim leftovers: Remove pellets that remain at the surface after the meal.
• Keep the bag shut: Seal it after each feed and store it somewhere cool and dry.
