New Life Spectrum Koi Basics 4.5kg

Description

New Life Spectrum Koi Basics 4.5kg — Floating 5.5–6 mm koi staple in a mid-size bag for a full season

Koi owners who feed every day through the warm months go through a surprising amount of pellet, and a mid-size bag saves repeated small purchases. New Life Spectrum Koi Basics 4.5kg (SKU: 724777) is the 4.5 kg bag of Koi Basics, the standard floating pellet in New Life Spectrum’s koi range. The pellet is 5.5 to 6 mm, floats, and is built around krill, fish oil, seaweeds and insect protein, with aquatic vegetables added. The maker lists five insect sources, silkworm pupae, black soldier fly larvae, mealworms, grasshoppers and crickets, and states there are no soybean additives. The recipe is the same in every Basics bag, so the choice of 1.6 kg, 4.5 kg or 8 kg is a matter of pond size and how quickly it is used.

New Life Spectrum describes the koi foods as a single pellet that carries the variety koi need, and says the high-density recipe means less waste and more feedings from each bag. In the range, Basics is the daily food, with Grow aimed at young fish and Show at colour. A 4.5 kg bag suits a pond of moderate size or a keeper with a dozen or more fish, and it holds just under three times as much as the 1.6 kg bag. Pellets this size should be stored in a lidded bin or a sealed bag, kept out of sun and damp, because oils in a fish food break down over time. Feeding rates are given on the pack; as a rule the amount is cut back as the water cools and the koi slow down.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Medium ponds: A bag matched to a stocked pond fed daily through the warm months.
• Established koi keepers: Those who already know their fish accept the pellet.
• Everyday feeding: The base diet around which treats and seasonal foods are added.
• Cost-conscious stocking up: A larger bag in place of repeated 1.6 kg purchases.

Feeding Guide

• Check the bag: Use the maker’s directions printed on the pack.
• Small, regular feeds: Offer what is finished within a few minutes.
• Decant for the pond side: Keep a small scoop container and a sealed main bin.
• Reduce in cool weather: Feed less as the water temperature drops.
