New Life Spectrum Medium Sinking 150g

Description

New Life Spectrum Medium Sinking 150g — Krill-based 2 to 2.5 mm daily pellet for medium freshwater and marine fish

Plenty of fish foods lean on soybean meal for their protein; this one is built on krill and whole fish instead. New Life Spectrum Medium Sinking 150g (SKU: 102271) is the 150 g jar of New Life Spectrum’s everyday sinking pellet, listed by Australian retailers as the Tropical Fish formula, in the medium 2 to 2.5 mm size. It carries the brand’s core Spectrum Nutrition Formula, a balanced daily diet for omnivores, herbivores and carnivores in freshwater and marine tanks, with easy-to-digest protein from whole Antarctic krill and whole menhaden, a herring-family fish, and no soybean products. The pellets sink steadily rather than sitting on the surface.

Alongside the krill and fish come giant squid, omega-3 fish oil, whole wheat flour, several seaweeds and kelp, chlorella, spirulina, garlic and ginger. Astaxanthin, marigold, capsanthin and zeaxanthin supply the carotenoids behind the maker’s claim that it enhances the full spectrum of a fish’s colour, and New Life Spectrum states it uses no hormones and no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. The maker describes the pellet as nutrient dense, so less food is needed and less waste reaches the water. The 150 g jar is a sensible starting quantity for one tank of medium fish.

Usage & Application

When to Use

• Medium community fish: Angelfish, gouramis, rainbowfish, larger barbs and dwarf cichlids.
• Mid-water and bottom feeders: Fish that take food as it sinks rather than at the surface.
• Marine fish-only tanks: Clownfish, damsels, dwarf angels and small tangs on a staple pellet.
• Trying the brand: A modest jar to see how a tank takes to it before buying larger.

Feeding Guide

• Twice daily: The amount eaten completely within about a minute, per New Life Spectrum.
• Do not overfeed: A dense pellet goes further than a light flake, so start small.
• Reach the shy fish: Sinking pellets get past the surface scramble to fish that hang back.
• Change over gradually: Mix with the previous food for a few days when switching diets.
